Welcome to ResumeMate Job Tracker Extension. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our browser extension.
By installing and using the ResumeMate Extension, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2.1 Job Data You Explicitly Save
When you use the Extension to save job postings, we collect:
- Job Details: Title, company name, location, salary range, job description, job URL
- Application Status: Saved, Applied, Interviewing, Offer, or Rejected
- Custom Notes: Any personal notes you add to saved jobs
- Resume Files: PDF files you attach to job applications marked as "Applied"
- Metadata: Date saved, platform source (LinkedIn, Indeed, etc.)
⚠️ Important: We ONLY collect this data when you explicitly click the "Save Job" button. We do not automatically track or monitor your browsing activity.
2.2 Authentication Information
To sync your data across devices, we collect:
- OAuth Tokens: Secure authentication tokens from resumemate.io
- User Email: Your registered email address
- User ID: Unique identifier linked to your resumemate.io account
2.3 Technical Data
To ensure the Extension functions properly:
- Browser Information: Browser type, version, operating system
- Extension Version: Version number of installed extension
- Error Logs: Crash reports and error messages (no personal data included)
- Usage Statistics: Aggregated, anonymized data about feature usage
2.4 Data We DO NOT Collect

- ❌ Personal messages or emails
- ❌ Credit card or payment information
- ❌ Social media credentials
- ❌ Contacts or phone numbers (unless you manually enter them in notes)

3. How We Use Your Information
3.1 Primary Purpose - Job Tracking
- Store and Organize: Save your job applications in one centralized location
- Sync Across Devices: Keep your job data accessible from any device
- Display Dashboard: Show your saved jobs on resumemate.io web application
- Enable Search: Help you find specific saved jobs quickly
- Track Progress: Monitor application status and follow-ups
3.2 Service Improvement
We use aggregated, anonymized data to:
- Improve Parsing: Enhance job detail extraction accuracy
- Fix Bugs: Identify and resolve technical issues
- Develop Features: Understand which features are most valuable
- Optimize Performance: Improve extension speed and reliability

Local Storage (Your Browser):
- Temporary cache using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API

- Cleared when you uninstall the extension or clear browser data
Cloud Storage (Our Servers):
- Primary storage on AWS servers (US region)
- Encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption
- Encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3
- Daily backups retained for 30 days
Resume Files:
- Stored on AWS S3 with server-side encryption
- Access controlled via signed URLs with expiration
- Separate from other user data for added security

All service providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for specified purposes.

- Scope: Minimal UI injection, no data collection

- Why: Detect which job platform you're viewing
- Access: Tab URL and title only
- Scope: No access to tab content unless activeTab permission used
7.2 Host Permissions
We request access to these job platform domains:

Purpose: Parse job details and inject floating UI on these platforms only.
We DO NOT:
- Access these sites when you're not viewing job listings
- Track your activity on these platforms
- Collect data from other parts of these websites (messaging, profiles, etc.)
8. Legal Compliance
8.1 California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights:

9. Children's Privacy
ResumeMate is intended for job seekers aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from individuals under 18.
If we discover we have collected data from a child under 18, we will delete the data immediately, notify the child's parent/guardian if identifiable, and prevent future access to the service.
10. International Data Transfers
Our servers are located in the United States. If you use the Extension from outside the US:
- Your data will be transferred to and processed in the US
