Research technology markets and companies. Help clients make decisions. Publish compelling research.
If you are passionate about emerging trends in digital health, including everything from care delivery navigation to clinical workflow automation, then we have the role for you.
The role you'll play:
You will be given the opportunity to produce digestible and actionable insights and track technology markets, as well as the industry competitors of tomorrow. In this role, you will help identify which emerging tech markets will flourish and which will fade, by using data and not your gut.
About the IU team:
Working on the Intelligence Unit is like having a front row seat to the future. There is no team quite like ours anywhere, inside or outside of tech. It's a unique opportunity to spend your day analyzing the technology markets, business models, and companies shaping the future of healthcare. To do so, you will have full access to the CB Insights software platform and its billions of data points, which you will be immersed in every day.
You will be surrounded by some of the most curious and driven people you will ever meet and held up to the highest standards every day. Our analysts come from backgrounds as diverse as investment banking, VC, consulting, equity research, journalism, and market research.
Your main tasks:
- Publish digestible, differentiated, and incisive research on our client-only platform.
- Analyze the momentum of digital health startups, tech markets, and competitive dynamics.
- Develop forward-looking analyses and insights for public-facing reports across digital health topics.
- Proactively identify industry trends and customer needs to guide content planning.
- Partner with go-to-market colleagues in support of business growth objectives.
- Deliver presentations to clients and at industry events.
- Support PR and media requests with subject matter expertise.
- Must be passionate and knowledgeable about technology investment, venture capital, and early-stage innovation in digital health.
What you bring to the table:
- 2+ years of professional experience working in a healthcare-related role (health IT or digital health company, consulting, provider or payer strategy/operations, investment banking, equity research, corporate strategy/innovation, or journalism experience).
- Writing experience in the above fields is a must; the ability to synthesize complex concepts into digestible, forward-looking insights is essential.
- Able to work with large datasets.
- Demonstrate a contagious passion for the material: Should be a startup/tech geek passionate about all things digital health related.
- Strong communication, presentation skills, and leadership abilities. You should feel comfortable speaking to customers and prospects about trends and investment activity in the healthcare industry.
- Some startup experience is a plus; a thick skin and high tolerance for change are required.
- BA/BS required; relevant graduate degrees a plus.

CB Insights Leadership Principles
At CB Insights, everyone is expected to be a leader. These leadership principles are like an operating system for our culture. Use the principles as a practical guide to making decisions.
We are what we repeatedly do. By living the principles outlined below, we will build an outstanding company and do insanely great work.
- Solve customer problems. It’s our highest calling. Designing a product? Start from the customer problem it solves. Updating our sales process? Flip it around, and simplify the customer buying process.
- Think BIG! Start small. Great changes start with a first step. Find it. Take it. Build a system around what works. This is the secret to bringing a vision to life.
- Go and see with your own eyes. Meet the customer, use the product, talk to the field. Great systems aren’t built from afar.
- Priorities: Choose one. Leaders give the gift of clarity. They find the most important thing and do it. Max power. Top speed.
- Danger zones:
- Bureaucracy. May the best ideas and execution win.
- Complexity. Leaders use frameworks and systems to simplify.
- No commitment. Leaders don’t compromise just to get along. Debate. Disagree. But once a decision is made, commit.
- Leaving what’s important unsaid or undone. No “circling back.”
- Data informs. Insight transforms. Pull the thread. Ask why. Leaders are curious. They use what they learn to create clarity.
- Insist on excellence. Leaders set high standards and overcome obstacles. They do the kind of work they’re excited to share with the world.
- Live off the land. Leaders creatively use resources already available to them – especially AI – to execute and automate their work.
- Good judgment. Leaders have it. Where it comes from: insight, listening, first-hand experience. How to apply it: carefully on big, hard to reverse decisions. Swiftly on limited, easy to reverse ones.
- Help others. Leaders know we’re building this together.
